Estepona continues to promote itself as the Garden of the Costa del Sol

REINFORCING its ‘Estepona, Garden of the Costa del Sol’ project, the town council will be planting 250,000 colourful plants at the rate of 50,000 per month until March when it will them introduce its Spring collection.

All of these plants have been grown in the municipal nursery which after extension is now capable of growing half a million plants every year, saving considerable amounts when compared to buying them in.

As well as growing plants and shrubs which are known to enjoy the Mediterranean climate, the gardeners also test new species which are tried in public gardens and if successful will be introduced throughout the planting area.

The first batch being planted consists of flowering wallflowers, begonias, marigolds and geraniums but towards the end of November visitors will see the planting of large numbers of cyclamen and poinsettias, a regular Christmas tradition.
